waterboarding

I can't recall who first said it but it's none the less true, torture is the cancer that kills societies. and waterboarding is killing this great country. for those who say it's not real torture read this, done by a guy who did it to himself just to get a perspective. and to anyone else who doesn't think it's torture, maybe you should do what this guy did and try it.

Illigal to RIP

Yes that's right the EVIL RIAA is now trying to make it illegal to rip your legally bought CD's to mp3 format. I don't understand the details exactly but if I'm catching it right the RIAA made an arguement to the supreme court in a previous case that right to rip rested with the individual record company. so all the record companies they represent now say neigh to ripping.

Honestly, I'd love to see them try to stop me, I pay the extra money for the hard copy of my music (aka the CD) to have that hard back up and instant music quality when I want it. the idea that they can now stop me from putting that CD on my ipod in the format that I choose, because they are afraid of file sharing is utter nonsense.

I <3 Onions

In response to my blog yesterday, Problem already solved. I came across this video today http://www.unwiredshow.tv it's from the unwired show (subscribe to them)
it explains how to you TOR or "the onion router" (www.torproject.org) so I downloaded and tryed it and I LOVE it, it works great, sadly it doesn't bypass Clean Access Agent or VPN Client all together, but it did allow me to download my torrent file without the corruption. so thank you onion router, you are now installed on all my computers.

P.S. it did slow speeds as they said, it slowed from a 750kb speed to a 380kbs. but it's as easy to turn on and off as they say in the video.

Fuck You SIU

SIU decided to start corrupting torrent files as they download. this isn't uncommon at schools but it's new here and it's PISSING ME OFF. we pay for internet. that said the school should butt out of what we do on our computers. I want to download Top Gear episodes. not music, but the damn school doesn't care in their minds torrents = evil!! NIU has to deal with the same kind of crap we do, but 1 they have wifi and 2 their internet is FREE!! we pay for it. shouldn't that give us choice in what we do?? I do prise the college for being resistant to give student data to the ever-watch-full RIAA but still... this is annoying, I'm not doing anything illegal, but still I have to have my friends download the torrent, encrypt it, then mega upload it to me, so i can plug it into a torrent program then download it. what a needless pain. sadly i can't complain directly because as near as the college know I don't have a torrent program at all.

Getting started

Well a little bit about me seeing as how It's 3am, I'm a student at SIUC, for now I'm going to keep my name to myself just because!!

My interest are political and civil rights as well as sexual rights, I'm a big fan of the blogging of Violet Blue (http://www.tinynibbles.com/) so I may link to her items often. I read many a blog, or read the ones that are interesting, I subscribe via Google Reader, (which I all recommend you check out) I subscribe to 58 blogs. and according to this read 5,425 posts over the past 30 days. which works out to 180 post a day.

well I'll rant some when I've had some sleep.

but for a start, I'm looking at getting a LG Voyager. problem is the more I research it the less i like it, It's cool but there is no wifi, nothing really interesting to speak of considering it's supposed to rival the Iphone near as i can tell it's a enV with a touch screen front, while cool and all is it worth the extra $150?
